Analysis of Forwarder Logging
Objectives of this research were to study and demonstrate a forwarder logging system in a typical middle Piedmont, natural hardwood or mixed pine/hardwood stand to determine its capability, adaptability and economic efficiency to accomplish selective partial harvesting. |

Southern Forestry Foundation sponsored a tour to Switzerland from July 19th-26th, 2003 to explore harvesting options developed by Swiss experts in steep and sensitive terrain. Foundation board members hoped to discover application of these systems for the Southern Appalachian. |
